At first, scratch building was something that I tended to shy away from...I thought it would be too hard, that I wouldn't be good at it, and that I'd never be able to do anything half decent. Well, was I ever wrong! At least, in my opinion, I was wrong.

I started out with some sheet Styrene I got from a now train-defunct hobby shop in town (The ONLY thing I EVER bought from him), and some glue I had left over from my model car/plane/boat days. I build two houses...square, rather simple, and straight forward. Some paint and a couple washes and they turned out alright. For my next project, I turned my attention to a highway overpass. While not exactly prototypical, I feel it turned out well as well. After that, I started getting more and more ambitious. I've got a bunch of projects in the planning stages (I think I'm at 20 right now), as well as a half-dozen that I've actually started on. I know how to carry out most of them; I'm more waiting for my money-train to come into the yard, if you know what I mean. Anyone want to buy some HO stuff? {VBG}.

I've recently got hooked working with wood...I've built a wharf, a tunnel portal and wing wall, several grade crossings, and I'm about to start on a 250-foot long retaining wall that I'm building as part of a how-to for the guys over at the N-scale.net forums. Pictures of everything I've got done so far will be posted below, and will be updated as I get more projects started. And, of course, if I ever manage to get any of them done!

More pictures of any of these structures or projects are available from me, if desired...shoot me an e-mail and ask, and I'd be more then happy to put some more online or send them to you personally. I'm also willing to give tips and pointers, or in the case of the N-scale.net forums, a published photographic how-to. All you have to do is ask!
