It's been a while since a plow extra was run on the WHRC, and it's been even longer since I've known about one soon enough to see it in person. But this year, I got lucky!
I was listening to the scanner the night before, and heard the crew call...the rest, as they say, is history.

WHRC Plow Train
W&H Plow Extra 4012 Eastbound

The first, second and third shots are of the plow before leaving Windsor. The horns on the roof of the plow had frozen up due to the harsh winter conditions. The Engineer is present in the 3rd shot. 4th and 5th shot are at track speed, nearly 30 MPH. The 6th shot is at a stand-still in Ellershouse. The 7th shot is a picture of the train, with a dusting of snow on all surfaces, as they roll away at about 10MPH. The last shot is a sign that caught me off guard...it was in the Ellershouse General Store Parking lot, and as you can see, it mentions VIA Rail. Without looking at my records, I would have to guess that the last time VIA ran in this area was back in the late 70's. That sign is in rather good shape for a sign that's probably over 30 years old! I should have some awesome video soon; I just need a place to store it online. N-scale.net seemed willing, but not until their site is upgraded some more. Will update when that becomes available.
