This is a page dedicated to CN & VIA Trains operating within the Maritime Provinces in 2004. All pictures were taken by me, and details of said pictures are given in the descriptions under the photo tables. Enjoy the pictures! Rockingham Yard, Bedford This was a casual trip into Halifax to see some family, but as usual, railfanning instinct kicked in and I had to go look at some trains! The first picture is of VIA Train #15, The Ocean, passing the yard coordinators office with a new Renaissance train. Please note the fact that both units are unique...both are painted in the Spiderman scheme, for the Movie recently released, Spiderman II. The next picture is of the new Nightstar/Renissance cars, specifically, a lounge car. The 3rd picture shows the lack of a Park Car, the tail-car on the older Budd Stainless Steel trains, and a landmark of Streamliners in Atlantic Canada. The 4th picture is of CN 4722, a GP38-2, switching Rockingham yard. The last picture in this set is an over of Rockingham yard, affectionately referred to as The Rock. Rockingham Yard & Bedford Highway This trip was actually unplanned as well...we were returning from dinner at a Restaurant with some family, and as we were driving along the Bedford Highway, I saw a train. Realizing what time it was, I figured it was probably 121 preparing to leave. I convinced Peter to pull over and stop in the Rockingham Yard Office Parking lot. The first picture is CN 2603 (Dash9-44CW), leading CN Train #121 in Rockingham Yard. The Next picture is of CN 4722 and 2603. The 3rd picture is of a Cummons power generation container, used to power the refrigerated containers in a train. The 4th picture is a shot of the nose of CN 2603. The last picture is train 121 pulled up to the Irving station at Mile 7, Bedford. All images present are copyright of Siderod Design in their respective years.
