This page contains the pictures taken by me in and around Boston in the summer of 2004. Not all are 100% train-related, but hey, neither is this site! Enjoy them! NECR, CSX, Amtrak & Mass Central This was a trip to Palmer, for railfanning...we saw New England Central (NECR), CSX, Mass Central & Amtrak during out visit. The food at The Steaming Tender was wonderful, and the old station was beautifully restored. Mass Bay Transit Authority We rode in the cab of a GP40MC from Braintree to Plymouth, then in the cab car from Plymouth to South Station, then in back into a bi-level from South Station to Braintree, where Peter got into the cab of an F40PH-2C. Got to love those kinds of connections, eh?! HO Model Railroad Club - SSMRC The above pictures are some of the shots I took at the South Shore Model Railway Club the night David, Peter and myself dropped in. It was a rather fun time, and I enjoyed it very much! They're working on the 2nd and 3rd of 6 peninsulas for the layout...the building is about 50 by 150 feet, so you can imagine the vast expanse of track they'll have when they're done! WOW! I urge you, to have a look at their website, The South Shore Model Railway Club, and if your in the area, contact one of the members and see if they'll be in working or if they have an open house in the future. It's a beautiful layout, even in its unfinished state, and is WELL worth the visit! Boston South Station to New York & Return Did anyone ever notice how hard it is to get pictures from an Amtrak Acela when it's clocking around 120MPH? Let alone the 150MPH sections! Nothing but a blur! Photographs are easy in comparison to trying to spot mileposts at that speed.....a milepost every 35 seconds at 120MPH, and every 24 Seconds at 150! And at that speed, it's hard to determine what was a milepost, what was a station and what was a bird flying by! But, it was great fun! Boston to New York and return in one day. Sadly, I only got a couple shots, which looking back on, wasn't nearly enough! Home of a true railfan! These are a couple pictures taken around Dave's house...his horns, dwarf signal, cross bucks and a model display case. Unfortunately, I didn't take many of his house, as we weren't there much....got home late, went to bed, got up early and went out chasing trains again! Oh well, it was Fun!
